Betsy Duffey

Betsy Duffey is a licensed counselor and worked for four years with homeless women, often using writing as a tool for healing. Over the years Betsy has spoken at hundreds of elementary schools and has shared her ideas with countless women’s groups. She lives with her husband in Atlanta, Georgia. They have two grown sons. Betsy and her sister, Laurie Myers, write together as the Writing Sisters.

Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. "It is not my ability, but my response to God’s ability, that counts." — Corrie Ten Boom

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. Counseling. I worked for four years with homeless women in Atlanta and loved listening to their stories and talking with them about their faith.

Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?

A. Cheesecake

Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?

A. A sparrow. Flying would be incredible. Living simply and freely is so appealing.

Q. What’s your greatest fear?

A. Clowns and monkeys. These deep-seated fears were inherited from my mother who also fears clowns and monkeys. (My sister does too.)
