Cristina Kessler has seen the plight of the African rhino firsthand: She has spent more than ten years in Africa as a writer and photographer. In addition to Africa, she has lived and traveled in Asia, Latin America, and Antarctica, visiting over ninety-two countries in total. Her previous books for children include One Night: A Story from the Desert and All the King's Animals, in which her photographs documented the return of wildlife to Swaziland. She currently lives in Mali with her husband, Joe.
