Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Grasp the nettle.

Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?

A. Teleportation would be nice. And quite an impressive party trick...

Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?

A. Happiness = a cup of tea + a book. Perfect happiness might have to include healthy kids, happy husband, a slice of cake, a visit from my sister, a monthly subscription to an interiors magazine and a writing room with easy access to a kettle.

Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?

A. I'd love to meet my mother's grandmother. She's not exactly an historical character but she was so important to my Mom. According to all accounts she was strong, kind and baked a mean batch of biscuits. I'd love to meet her, share a cup of tea and just chat.

Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?

A. I'm very interested in people. I'm genuinely fascinated to hear the reply when I ask "So what do you do?"
