Q. What is your motto or maxim?

A. Be kind.

Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?

A. This has never been my occupation in real life, but my fantasy job (when not writing) is to be a librarian. I would so love to get lost in the stacks and stacks of books. And I love the library smell!

Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?

A. Sense of humor, Compassion, Intelligence

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. It’s a tie between unnecessary chewing noises and the non-word “irregardless.”

Q. Which living person do you most admire?

A. I admire a great many living people, some of whom I’ve never met (every struggling single parent in the world doing her/his/hir best to raise children against the odds has my admiration, for example). But since I’m being asked to choose one, I’ll pick Malala Yousafzai.
