Tibetan artist Tashi Dhargyal trained with master painter Venerable Sangye Yeshi at a school established at the behest of the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India. For five years he was the artist-in-residence at Ganden Jangtse Monastery before coming to the United States to continue his craftsmanship. He is the first Tibetan to paint a thanbhochi, a huge ceremonial scroll painting, outside of Tibet, and in 2018 Tashi donated his two-story thanbhochi to the Dalai Lama, and it is now hung behind His Holiness when he teaches in India at the site of the Buddha’s enlightenment. Tashi is also the author of Coloring for Meditation with Tibetan Buddhist Art, and he has an active following online. Learn more at TashiDhargyal.com.
