Rabbi Michael Weisser was a spiritual leader renowned for his profound compassion and transformative approach to confronting hatred. Born in 1941 in New Haven, Connecticut, he overcame a challenging childhood to dedicate his life to building interfaith harmony and fostering understanding. Weisser's life was a testament to his unwavering belief in the power of love over hate, grounded in the Jewish principle to “love your neighbor as yourself.” A graduate of Hebrew Union College with honors, he served Congregation B’nai Jeshurun (South Street Temple) in Lincoln, Nebraska, for more than 20 years, first as Cantor and later as Rabbi. He also shared his wisdom by teaching courses on religion and spirituality at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Rabbi Weisser leaves behind a legacy of resilience, faith, and the enduring power of love to bridge divides and heal communities.
