About The Book

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Blondie, the iconic rock band’s titular debut album, and their career from their beginnings on NYC’s Lower East Side to their most current tour with rare and never-before-seen photographs by legendary rock and roll photographer, Bob Gruen.

When Blondie exploded onto the music scene in New York City’s Lower East Side in the mid-1970s, they were a rarity: a punk band led by a woman, the now-legendary Debbie Harry. Becoming a regular at CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City, the band opened for acts such as Iggy Pop before becoming a worldwide sensation in their own right. And through it all, photographer Bob Gruen was there, documenting it with his camera. All I Want Is a Picture of You features hundreds of Gruen’s stunning photographs of the iconic band, from their punk beginnings to their mainstream success in the 1980s and up to their most recent tour across the US. Rare and never-before-seen images, as well as some of the most iconic pictures taken of the band, are accompanied by insightful commentary by Bob Gruen and Debbie Harry. This work is a unique look at Debbie, Chris, Clem, and the band as they ushered in the new wave of American rock, and a celebration of Blondie’s influential career.

About The Author

By the mid 1970s, Gruen was already regarded as one of the foremost photographers in music, working with major artists such as John Lennon, Green Day, Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, and Kiss. His photographs of bands at the legendary club CBGB during the 70s and 80s are considered the definitive catalog of New York music.
