About The Book
Yuna lives on the Korean island of Jeju. All the women in her family are haenyeo, divers who hold their breath and dive into the ocean to collect seafood and shellfish. It’s Yuna’s big dream to become a haenyeo herself. But her mom thinks she’s still too young . . .
About The Illustrator
Elisabeth Sung (1996) is an illustrator and storyteller with a passion for bringing unique perspectives and voices to life through her art. Originally from the mountains of North Carolina, she has traveled and lived across the world, drawing inspiration from the people, landscapes, and cultures she encounters. She earned her degree in Studio Art and Special Education from Appalachian State University in 2018. Elisabeth’s Appalachian roots and Korean heritage deeply influence her work, inspiring her to explore diverse stories, highlight different perspectives, and find magic in everyday moments. When she’s not in her studio, Elisabeth can be found baking cinnamon rolls or watching K-dramas with her husband, Yun, and their dog, Stevie.
