Biography has traditionally been an important aspect of historiography. Despite many recent trends that focus on aspects apart from the role of individuals in the historical process, the study of the role of important personalities throughout history cannot be neglected. Biography and Romanian Studies is a collection of studies written by Romanian and American scholars on subjects relating to biography and Romanian studies. These papers were presented at the Third International Conference of the Center for Romanian Studies held in Ia?i, Romania, 9-10 July 1997.
