About The Book

A heartfelt midlife fitness memoir that empowers women 35–65 to rediscover strength, confidence, and possibility through one woman’s unexpected journey from sedentary mom to determined runner.

Couch Potato Mom Becomes a Marathon Finisher, Proving It’s Never Too Late to Change Your Life.

At 46, Hildee Weiss had perfected the art of putting herself last. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she moved through life feeling worn down, invisible, and convinced that transformation belonged to other people—thinner people, younger people, braver people. Then one ordinary day, she asked herself a question that would rewrite everything she believed about who she could become: What if I tried?

Embracing My Inner Athlete is the unfiltered, deeply inspiring memoir of a self-described couch potato who dared to take her first shaky steps toward health, confidence, and joy—steps that would eventually carry her across 5Ks, 10Ks, five half marathons, Spartan obstacles, and challenges she once believed were reserved only for “real” athletes. With vulnerable honesty, humor, and hard-won wisdom, Hildee reveals the fears, failures, friendships, and fierce determination that shaped her midlife awakening.

More than a running story, this is a testament to second chances and the quiet, radical act of choosing yourself. For every woman who has ever felt stuck, sidelined, or “too late” to begin, Hildee’s journey offers one powerful truth: You’re stronger than you think — and your next chapter can start with a single step.
