About The Book
Feeling Safer in Unsafe Times: A Bilingual Therapeutic Coloring Book is a gentle, supportive tool for children ages 3–8 to talk about and express big feelings after confusing or frightening experiences.
Through ten illustrated, real-life–inspired scenarios, children are invited to color while reflecting on two simple questions: What do you feel? and What can you do? These prompts help children name their feelings and consider small, manageable ways to cope—while giving adults a way to listen and reassure. Presented in both English and Spanish, it’s designed to support conversations
across languages.
Written by an experienced veteran child psychologist, this book provides a creative space for children to process difficult experiences and begin to feel safer.

"What a powerfully sensitive and healing gift to children dealing with immigration fears. I have never seen a children's book so tender and necessary."

“Dr. Linda Budd has written a stunningly creative and useful bilingual coloring book to be used by professionals, paraprofessionals, and parents to read to 3- to 8-year-olds who feel unsafe and helpless. With incredibly expressive artwork and questions to elicit their emotions, Feeling Safer In Unsafe Times is a gift to young children who find themselves in unsafe environments. I highly recommend it!”
