About The Book

I Learned It Through the Grapevine invites you to discover how the vineyard’s wisdom can guide you toward deeper purpose, lasting growth, and a life worth savoring.

Life is a lot like wine: It takes time, care, and the right conditions to flourish.

In I Learned It Through the Grapevine, Lauren Brynjelsen invites readers into the vineyard, revealing how the timeless art of winemaking mirrors the journey of a well-lived life, one full of change, transformation, and growth. From the soil beneath the vines to the grape harvest, each stage offers us wisdom as we embrace who we are and who we are becoming.

With true wine-enthusiast passion, Lauren guides readers through the winemaking process while sharing lessons from her own journey of transformation that led her to pursue a passion project midlife: opening a business where she shares her love for food, wine, and entertaining.

Through viticulture insights and honest anecdotes, readers will discover how the toughest soil can produce the richest fruit, why pruning is essential for growth, and how the process of transformation requires patience and trust. Along the way, Lauren challenges readers to evaluate their own “vineyards” and how they could cultivate a life that welcomes growth and change as the seasons require it.

Each chapter provides curated wine recommendations and suggests a vineyard to visit, making the book a perfect companion for book clubs, gatherings, or even a wine country road trip.

Whether wine lover, enthusiast, or someone seeking inspiration, I Learned It Through the Grapevine offers a refreshing perspective on how to live with intention, embrace change, and celebrate the fruitful life.

Raise a glass. The vineyard awaits.

About The Author

Lauren Brynjelsen is the founder and owner of One Life Kitchen in Barrington, Illinois, a haven where culinary art meets wellness, hospitality, and community. A longtime resident of Barrington who splits her time between there and Sarasota, Florida, Lauren has always believed that life’s best moments happen around a table.

Though she is largely self-taught in the kitchen, she has refined her approach through private and group culinary classes and dinners, wine-tasting, and celebrity-chef workshops—always emphasizing simplicity, good taste, and nourishing both body and soul.

Her background blends interests in cooking, nutrition, fitness and entertaining. While earning her credentials in nutrition and health coaching, she envisioned a space that goes beyond cooking: a sanctuary to gather, learn, nourish and grow. One Life Kitchen embodies this by offering cooking classes, themed dinners, interactive seminars, and events that nourish the body, mind, and spirit.

Lauren is also an advocate for community, using her platform to inspire connection, encourage authenticity, and support others—especially women—in embracing their gifts with kindness, integrity, and generosity.
