About The Book

Reality and fiction collide when a shy aspiring writer uses her larger-than-life anonymous blog to sabotage a budding relationship between the new girl in school and her childhood friend in this irresistible rom-com that takes notes from Jane Austen’s Emma for the social media age.

Shy, introverted Jane lives out a fantasy life in her online blog, where she writes elaborate posts about a teen girl with a glamorous life and a gorgeous boyfriend—two things Jane definitely doesn’t have. She only has her writing and her BFFs Camila and Leo, who she shares everything with—except the fact that she’s leading a double life online. Jane’s real life and her online life do not mix.

Then a new girl named Brynn, who Jane has had a rough start with, begins cozying up to Leo. Jane knows Brynn’s totally wrong for him, so when she finds out Brynn follows her blog, Jane does something risky: She starts using her blog to get her way in real life. But when the lines between fact and fiction start to blur, what does that mean for Jane’s anonymity, and the real-life relationships at stake?

Hi from Birthday Land

Yesterday I was in New York City, sitting outside at a café on a cute little cobblestone street. It was the perfect temperature, mid-sixties, light-jacket weather. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over everything. Izzy, Leo, and I had just eaten the most delicious meal. Then Leo said something funny, and we all laughed, the kind of all-encompassing laughter that made my eyes burn and my stomach hurt. All of a sudden, a flicker of light caught my eye. I turned and spotted a candle sticking out of a piece of raspberry cheesecake (my favorite!). The server put it down in front of me, and just like that, my friends started singing. Happy birthday to you… I was embarrassed, of course, but still, I couldn’t stop smiling. I just felt so happy. I took a deep breath, made a wish, and blew out the candle. When I looked up—at my friends, the city, the golden sky—I realized my wish had already come true.

At the risk of sounding braggy, my birthday weekend has been a real-life fairy tale. Seriously, Cinderella’s got NOTHING on me. I want to tell you all about it, but I don’t have much time. In a few minutes, Miles is picking me up and taking me out to dinner. He wants to surprise me, so he won’t say where we’re going, but he told me to wear something nice. I know, I know. He’s the best boyfriend ever.

Thank you all SO much for the birthday wishes. Even though I can’t respond to them all, I read every single one and am truly feeling the love. I got a few birthday-related questions too, that I’ll try to answer on (Talk to Me) Tuesday. In related news I hit 100k followers yesterday (!!!), which is, without a doubt, the best present I could’ve asked for. It means so much that you’re all here right now, reading this, and that you continue to stick by me while I regale you with the details of my silly little life.

So, happy birthday to me, but you can have my wish. I already have everything I need :)

There’s the doorbell. Gotta go! xoxo

Stay dreaming,

Anastasia
