About The Book

Class is back in session! ‘Swifterature’ professor Dr. Elly McCausland dives even deeper into the poetic songwriting of Taylor Swift with line-by-line analysis of 46 more songs from Taylor Swift to The Life of a Showgirl, and every era in between.

In Meet Me in the Afterglow—the highly anticipated follow-up to Stars Around My Scars—English professor Dr. Elly McCausland indulges the act of examining Taylor Swift lyrics for their literary easter eggs and classic poetic structure. With each entry, she pairs a close reading of the lyrics with:
  • Line-by-line analysis of songs from every era, from Taylor Swift to The Life of a Showgirl
  • Marginalia highlighting poetic craft, literary connections, and historical throughlines
  • 46 more Swift songs—including fan favorites like “The Fate of Ophelia,” “New Year’s Day,” and “Fifteen”

Grab your highlighter & gel pens and discover the poetry hiding in your favorite songs!
