Veronica C. García, EdD, has been a New Mexico schoolteacher, principal, superintendent, and state cabinet secretary of public education. She has received numerous awards, including the National Governors’ Association Award for Excellence in State Government, New Mexico Superintendent of the Year, and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Education from Hispanic magazine. She is presently executive director of New Mexico Voices for Children.
