Compilations are one of our favorite types of books because we get to see one thing presented in many different ways by some of the most talented peeps in our industry. And boy, do we love this one! Tacha (co-founder of Fat Quarterly Magazine) tackles paper-piecing, a wonderful technique that enables quilters to accurately piece detailed blocks. But many of us find oursevles terrified of this process because it's counter-intuitive to how we normally piece. We urge you to let yourselves be guided by her simple instructions and the book's clear illustrations. Once mastered, paper-piecing will open many design doors for your quilt efforts. Tacha works with 12 different block designs which are first featured in a calendar quilt. Then, she hands each block to a different designer, who creates a completed project using the block. There are bags, a game board, home dec items and even a chair cushion! Designers include Cheryl Arkison, Daniel Rouse and Amy Lobsinger. The book also comes with a CD with all of the block patterns waiting to be printed.
