About The Book

Breathtaking original haiku and senryu from the author behind the beloved anthology Poetry of Impermanence, Mindfulness, and Joy.

Moments of insight are to be found throughout the pages of this beautiful collection by cherished and award-winning poet John Brehm. These haiku are true to the spirit of the form, offering vivid images that speak to nature—and our human nature—in a minimalist, meditative style. With many written as the author faces a terminal diagnosis, these poems are a window into the fragility and impermanence of life and the profound beauty of even the most ordinary of moments.

This volume is a companion to keep you company in seasons of change and a brilliant reminder of the freshness always at your fingertips. Best savored mindfully, each haiku is an invitation to be present to the vastness of everyday experiences, shared with Brehm’s signature honesty, humor, and grace.

Why We Love It

John is an honest, insightful, keen writer. Using the minimalist style that is modern haiku and senryu, he captures ordinary moments that offer space for insight and reflection. As the last book he’ll be able to publish, this is a special volume.
