People do not appear in his pictures, and nonetheless Bernd Uhde is creating work that is about people - it's not the wild nature that is his topic, but rather the earth as designed by people. For thousands of years, we have been leaving imprints, signs and scars on the planet. This is a topography that has come into being through work, growth and the passage of time. Unde's motifs have long since left the tier of being common satellite and space shots. Thanks to his minimalist selection of motifs, he becomes a virtual 'terrain explainer' and 'land builder'.
