Ara Katz is the founder of Seed, a microbiome science company known for DS-01 Daily Synbiotic, the number one probiotic in the United States, and VS-01 Vaginal Synbiotic, the first clinically studied vaginal synbiotic of its kind, developed with Dr. Jacques Ravel, one of the world’s foremost vaginal microbiome scientists. A leading science communicator and the author of A Kids Book About Your Microbiome, she has been recognized by Time’s Best Inventions and Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas (five years running), and named to Inc.’s 100 Female Founders and Marie Claire’s New Guard: The 50 Most Influential Women in America. A serial entrepreneur and angel investor across biotech and consumer health, she serves on the board of Pheno.AI, which operates the Human Phenotype Project, the world’s deepest multi-omics study of human health, and has served on the board of Biosphere 2. She lives in New York City, is mom to Pax and Zen, and the proud owner of two tardigrades that live at the Harvard Museum of Natural History.
