James Joyce (1882–1941) is one of the most important and influential writers of the twentieth century. His literary Modernist works used writing techniques that were experimental for the time. Joyce’s portrayal of human nature, alongside vivid depictions of life in Dublin, as well as his undisputed masterpiece Ulysses, have cemented him as a major literary influence to writers throughout and beyond the twentieth century.
