Martina Giselle Ramirez

Martina Giselle Ramirez is Dean of the College of Science and Professor of Biology at California State University, Stanislaus. She has won multiple awards for her scholarship and mentorship, including the LGBTQ+ Mentor Award from LMU’s LGBT Student Services Office in 2016. In recognition of her contributions to spider genetics research and role as a champion of underrepresented students in STEM, she had a new spider species named after her in 2025. She medically transitioned to female in 2016 and has never been happier.
