Vijay Gokhale

About The Author

Vijay Gokhale spent nearly four decades in the Indian Foreign Service and retired as foreign secretary in 2020. He worked on matters relating to China for a significant portion of his diplomatic career, including as the Ambassador in 2016-17. He has authored several books on China, including The Long Game: How the Chinese Negotiate with India (Penguin Random House), which won the Ramnath Goenka Award for Best Non-Fiction Book for 2021. He lives in Pune with his spouse, Vandana, and devotes his time to teaching and research on China.
